Balmain East Wharf
Balmain East Wharf
Located at the eastern end of the Balmain Peninsula, opposite the picturesque Barangaroo Reserve and with a spectacular view of the Harbour Bridge, Balmain East Wharf is a central and modern ferry wharf. If you'd like your pick up and drop off from Balmain East Wharf, when you're booking your boat hire with Ucruise Sydney just ask our staff if there's any reason why the wharf would be inappropriate for your group or vessel, and they'll be happy to offer advice!
Choosing Balmain East Wharf for Your Cruise Pick Up
There are a fair few wharfs with great views of Sydney, but Balmain East Wharf is certainly up there. From the CBD to the Barangaroo Reserve, Harbour Bridge, Goat Island and even a glimpse of Luna Park, this wharf offers and angle of the Sydney sites that tourists might not have enjoyed before. It's a good spot for pick up for groups based in Balmain, of course, but it's also pretty convenient for many other southern Sydney suburbs such as Annandale and Summer Hill. Thanks to an upgrade about 10 years ago, the wharf is also spacious, modern and accessible, perhaps giving it the edge over other nearby wharfs such as Balmain and Birchgrove.
Getting to Balmain East Wharf
Frequent ferry services come and go from Balmain East Wharf, which is awesome for accessibility, but as ferries have right of way over private vessels, it can sometimes add a few minutes on to your pick up and drop off wait times. For arriving by ferry, the F3, F4 and CCLC services all stop here, covering an area between Riverview and Parramatta River to the west and the CBD to the east. Another bonus for public transport users is that the 442 bus service stops right opposite Balmain East Wharf, meaning you won't have to lug your gear around for long once you get there. There is also some parking nearby, although for the most part it's a two-hour limit or for permit holders. The nearest secure car park is back in central Balmain, a good 15 minute walk away.
Local Amenities
Just a couple of minute's walk up Darling Street from Balmain East, you can find a handful of shops, cafés and liquor stores that should cover most of your last-minute needs such as ice and cold beers, If, however, you need to grab supplies to make your on-board meals, you'll need to head back into central Balmain and that will take a fair while longer. Balmain East is considered an accessible wharf by Transport for NSW, so most special requirements, such as wheelchair access among others, can be catered for here. As for a spot to wait in while your group gets together, you can't really beat Illoura Reserve, which is right next door!
